Celtic player ratings as Ange Postecoglou's side defeat Rangers in League Cup final

Joe Hart 6

The Englishman was sometimes lacklustre in his distribution during the match, which put Celtic under pressure. However, he was calm for the most part.

Alistair Johnston 8

He played an excellent pass through to Kyogo Furuhashi for the first real chance of the game 21 minutes in. Defensively he was solid and offered a threat going forward constantly.

Cameron Carter-Vickers 8

He made a sensational interception half an hour in to prevent a Rangers cross from reaching Malik Tillman. It was a battle against Alfredo Morelos and the American came out victorious over the course of the fixture. He barely put a foot wrong.

Carl Starfelt 7

At times some of his passing was slightly suspect but he was strong in the air when he had to be and dealt well with the Ibrox side's attack.

Greg Taylor 7

The 25-year-old was in a tough battle against Fashion Sakala and was caught out of position in the first-half a few times. However, he grew into the game and provided the assist for Kyogo's opening goal.

Callum McGregor 8

A capable performance from the captain, as always. He was strong in the challenge and calm on the ball. He had a few darting runs to help kickstart Celtic attacks.

Aaron Mooy 8

It was a strong contribution by the Australian who was involved in the build-up for both Celtic goals. The 32-year-old was another who was strong in the middle park.

Reo Hatate 9

He played some excellent passes during the match and provided a superb assist for Kyogo's second. The playmaker dictated play for a good chunk of the game and was the best player on the pitch.

Jota 7

It was not his most effective game but he did have a presence during the match and was effective in helping Celtic build attacks. He drifted a bit before being subbed.

Kyogo Furuhashi 9

It was a superb performance from the striker. He opened the scoring with a calm finish just before half-time after finding himself free in the box. The 27-year-old also scored his second of the match in a similar fashion.

Daizen Maeda 7

The Japan international did a lot of good defensive work and helped pin Rangers back in the first-half in particular. It was not his most effective game going forward but he still contributed.

Substitutes

Liel Abada (for Jota, 65) 5

He had a few good runs and was booked for diving.

Matt O'Riley (for Mooy, 65) 5

The Denmark under-21 international should have killed the game off at the end but McGregor saved his attempt.

Oh Hyeon-gyu (for Kyogo, 76) 4

Did not have much of an opportunity to make an impact

Tomoki Iwata (for Hatate, 76) 4

He was quiet but composed.

Sead Haksabanovic (for Maeda, 84) 4

The Montenegrin should have made it 3-1 on a couple of occasions.
