Celtic Park police flashpoint finally resolved as Copenhagen star Michael Santos discovers fate

Copenhagen's Michael Santos has eventually been let off the hook seven months after being accused of assaulting a police officer at Celtic Park.

The Uruguayan striker was involved in an incident during the Danish side's 3-1 Europa League last 32 victory at Parkhead back in March.

Police Scotland announced after the game that Santos had been reported to the Procurator Fiscal, along with an FC Copenhagen staff member.

However, Santos - who as now been loaned to Spanish outfit Leganes - has now been informed that no further action will be taken against him.

In response to a query from Danish media, a spokesman for the Attorney General, Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service stated: "After careful consideration based on the facts and circumstances of the case - including the available evidence - the Procurator Fiscal has decided that no further action should be taken at this time."

Santos was hit with a three-game ban from UEFA for 'assaulting another person' following the unsavoury scenes at Parkhead and moved to Spain on a season-long loan earlier this week.

The 27-year had stated after the Celtic game he was never worried about the charges hanging over him.

He said: "It is important for me to emphasise that the club has said that I should not comment on the episode.

"But I am not worried."

And Copenhagen said at the time: "One of our stewards tried to prevent a clash and was led away and talked with Scottish police. Michael Santos also talked with the police, who subsequently have charged them both.

"They travelled home with the team and we are now waiting to see if the Scottish police will pursue the case. We will co-operate if they want more information from the club."
