Celtic could move for midfield ace James McCarthy with news that the former Hamilton Accies star is set to leave Crystal Palace.
The Selhurst Park club are set for a summer rebuild, with boss Roy Hodgson leaving at the end of this season, and with several players out of contract, the Premier League club is prepared to let a few of them leave.
According to The Athletic, one of those is McCarthy, who Celtic expressed an interest in earlier this season - but there is reportedly interest in him from Newcastle United as well.
McCarthy, who is a Celtic fan, has enjoyed a good career in England, having left Hamilton in 2009 for Wigan Athletic, with a move to Everton in 2013 and Palace in 2019..
The 30-year-old has also made 43 appearances for Republic of Ireland.
