Celtic official urges club to share Neil Lennon review as pressure mounts on Hoops boss

A Celtic official has publicly pleaded with the club to release the January review of Neil Lennon’s position as manager after any slim hopes of a title challenge were all but killed by defeat to St Mirren.

Supporter liaison officer John Paul Taylor said the Parkhead hierarchy must address the concerns of The Hoops faithful after another lacklustre performance saw The Buddies leave Glasgow’s East End with three points for the first time in 31 years.

The result leaves Celtic 23 points behind rivals Rangers at the Scottish Premiership’s summit.

Outgoing chief executive Peter Lawwell, who announced his decision to retire at the end of the season earlier this week, promised the club’s top brass would forensically analyse the situation at the club as part of an ongoing review process.

The results of that internal probe were due to be made public by the end of the month.

But with the clock ticking, that no longer looks likely, leaving the Hoops faithful in the dark over the club’s future.

Taylor too has been shut out of any discussions, and was unable to provide an update on the investigation.

Responding to the concerns of several supporters on Twitter, he wrote: "I’ve done so and more fans were promised a review and I’ve continually requested this be shared, club needs to address this ASAP.

“I’ve asked continuously for an update on this throughout the month, club must provide an update."

Former Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe, ex Newcastle and Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez and recently sacked Frank Lampard have all been linked with the manager’s job at Celtic this season.

Lennon remains in his position for now, but there is growing disquiet from fans over his job.
