Celtic No1 Joe Hart brands Hampden pitch 'horrendous' as he delivers assessment on Kilmarnock win

Joe Hart branded the Hampden pitch as 'horrendous' as he delivered his verdict on Celtic's semi-final win over Kilmarnock.

Ange Postecoglou's League Cup holders will return to the national stadium to defend their trophy after goals from Daizen Maeda and Giorgos Giakoumakis secured a spot in the final and the chance to lift the first trophy on offer this campaign. The Hoops won the competition last time around as they bid to make it back-to-back successes.

The rain and wind battered Mount Florida as both teams battled the tough conditions. Celtic No1 Hart was full of praise for Derek McInnes' troops hailing their performance as really good and admitting they gave the Scottish champions a tough game. But as the Hoops seem to do under Postecoglou, they kept playing and scored the goals needed to come out on top.

Reacting to the last four win, the former England international told Celtic's official website: “It was a tough game – freezing, the pitch was horrendous, but we got it done and found a way.

“It was hard to get a good view of the goals, but they looked a little bit scrappy, but we got them over the line and made it happen.

“I thought Kilmarnock were really good today, they gave us a tough game. They had a lot of energy at the start, but we stuck to what we do, and what we do best.

'We kept playing, we defended when we needed to and we scored the goals when we needed to.’

“It’s enjoyable, the boys defend really well, they don’t ask me to do much. So when I’m asked or called upon, I try my best to be there.”
