Celtic next manager favourite carousel in full as Roy Keane revelation adds another twist to roller coaster search

Ever since Neil Lennon's departure was confirmed Celtic fans have been furiously searching for clues over who could step in to replace him.

With a new director of football expected to be appointed and a new CEO in the shape of Dominic McKay it's an appointment that the club can't afford to get wrong.

Inevitably there will be intense scrutiny over the odds for next manager as Celtic make their moves behind the scenes.

While fans can probably be assured that Arlene Foster (500/1), Ally McCoist (250/1) or Paolo Di Canio (80/1) won't be taking over, there is plenty of interest at the top end of the market.

It's an ever-changing race, and here's the timeline of everyone who's been favourite to bring you up to speed.

Eddie Howe - January 21

The former Bournemouth boss was favourite even before Lennon's departure. The market was actually closed back in January with Howe top of the betting.

However, he may well choose to remain in England and has drifted to 14/1 from 1/5 at the beginning of the year.

Rafa Benitez - January 24

The Spaniard's decision to leave Dalian Yifang saw him leap to the top of the odds. At one point close to 80 per cent of bets on the market were on Benitez, with his odds crashing from 33/1 to 1/6.

He's now as long as 20/1 with some bookies though, with a return to Napoli looking the more likely option.

Steve Clarke - February 11

As the pressure mounted on Lennon a new favourite emerged - Scotland boss Steve Clarke.

In early February the former Kilmarnock manager was in at 9/4 but he's affirmed his commitment to the national team as he prepares for Euro 2020.

John Kennedy - February 24

When Lennon's departure was announced the bookies seemed to think a continuity candidate was in order.

There was a bit of self-preservation in his short odds though - bookmakers pay out if a caretaker takes charge for 10 games.

Enzo Maresca - March 1

By early March it was Manchester City youth boss Enzo Maresca who was favourite.

The former Juventus and Sevilla midfielder is highly-rated and would be a bold appointment. However, he's now out at 14/1.

Chris Wilder - March 14

As things stand it's former Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder who is favourite after he departed Sheffield United.

The Englishman is in at 5/6 with some bookies.

Roy Keane - date to follow?

The Irishman's odds are tumbling and there's every chance he could become the next favourite in the coming days. He has been cut from 16s to 4/1 in the past 24 hours.
