Celtic news headlines: Liam Burt 'on Aberdeen radar' and ex Hoops player makes Lennon stunt double claim

Here are your Celtic news headlines on Tuesday, 20 October.

Liam Burt 'on Aberdeen radar'

Former Celtic and Rangers midfielder Liam Burt is at Pittodrie for Aberdeen's league match against Hamilton Accies.

The Daily Record reports that the player is "on Aberdeen's radar" having been invited to tonight's match as a guest.

The 21-year-old was training with Barnsley last month but they opted not to offer him a deal. He also had a short trial at Sunderland, according to the Record.

Burt signed for Celtic after leaving Rangers last year, but departed the Parkhead club earlier this summer after failing to break into Neil Lennon's first team.

Ex Celtic player says he needs the 'real Neil Lennon' to show up

Paul Slane says it was like watching Neil Lennon's stunt double in charge of Celtic in Saturday's Old Firm defeat to Rangers.

The ex Celtic player says the manager's reaction to sideways passes at 2-0 down isn't what he remembers of his old boss.

Speaking on Open Goal, he said: "Seriously, I need the real Neil Lennon to turn up

"That is not Neil Lennon. I honestly believe the man standing on that touchline is a stunt double. I really do.

"Even on 70 minutes, Celtic are passing the ball side-to-side and he's not saying anything.

"I remember in training if I passed the ball backwards he would be screaming the head off me.

"The way they played it was like testimonial."

Sutton questions Lennon's Celtic future

Chris Sutton reckons the Celtic blame game needs to stop if they are to turn their season around.

He told the  Daily Record Celtic podcast : "You have to say there are issues in that dressing room. The fact Neil Lennon is pointing fingers at leaks, it’s a big problem for him. He needs to start getting a grip of the dressing room and there be harmony about the place.

"It looks, at this point in time, like everyone is pointing fingers. There’s a blame culture going on. It’s everyone else’s fault.

"This season is very much retrievable for Celtic. The facts of the matter is, though, they haven’t performed well and in the big games they’ve come up well short."

He added: "He needs a performance, and he needs a big performance, and maybe he’ll get it against AC Milan on Thursday.

"The truth of the matter is we’re all sitting there and thinking AC Milan, in the form they are in, will come and turn Celtic over easily.

"But Neil Lennon somehow needs to get a tune out of his players, otherwise Peter Lawwell might be thinking ‘we need a different voice, I can’t let this carry on’."
