Celtic news headlines and fallout to Rangers defeat as Neil Lennon's agent hits back at critics

Here are your Celtic news headlines on the morning of Sunday, 18 October.

Lennon's agent blasts back at critics

Neil Lennon's agent Martin Reilly has hit back at critics of the Celtic boss on Twitter.

Reilly was left unimpressed as a number of supporters questioned the manager's tactics and his ability to fend off the challenge of Rangers in the wake of Saturday's 2-0 defeat at Celtic Park.

To one fan, he replied: "Team was decimated. We have a saying Keep the Faith. You lack it. Lennon will deliver. He always does."

He added: "5 players making derby debut. One day to prepare the team. They are the facts. But you crack on."

Celtic boss says team can't live off past glories

Neil Lennon has backed his players to respond to defeat to Rangers, but warns that they can't live off past glories in their pursuit of a tenth consecutive title.

He said: "The win gives Rangers a lift obviously. It’s early in the season though and you can’t listen to all the noise outside.

“Can they respond? Absolutely. They’ve done it before.

“But they can’t live on the past. This is the present and we’ve got a title race on our hands and we have to roll out sleeves up and do better.

“I have no idea if these (Old Firm) games will be vital. If they are then we will have to make up for it over time.

“We’ve got a game in hand we have to win and assess where we are from there.

“You can’t base everything on four games a season, you have to be consistent all year.”

Sutton blasts misfiring Hoops stars

Chris Sutton might have had his tongue firmly in cheek when he congratulated Rangers for beating "Celtic reserves".

But he knows his old team have a lot of questions to answer after their derby day defeat.

The Hoops hero described the Celtic players as "gutless" and warned that Rangers should have won by more goals.

He told BBC 606: "Rangers thoroughly deserved their victory.

"I can moan all evening about Celtic having so many players out but the players who played should have performed better."

He added: "The scoreline flattered Celtic and Rangers deserved to win by more. That's the truth. At 2-0 Rangers deserved to win by more."

Ibrahimovic fires warning ahead of Europa League clash

Oh, and finally, probably not the news Celtic fans want to hear right now.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic looks in fine fettle ahead of Thursday's Europa League clash after putting rivals Inter to the sword.

The veteran Milan forward scored a double in last night's derby win, and his club are sitting pretty at the top of Serie A with four wins from four.
