Celtic news and transfer headlines as Sturgeon issues fan return blow, Bolingoli latest

Here are your Celtic news headlines on Wednesday, September 9.

Ross County test event at risk

Nicola Sturgeon has warned this weekend's Ross County vs Celtic test event could be at risk due to the recent rise of coronavirus cases.

The Premiership clash in Dingwall and Aberdeen vs Kilmarnock were set to trial the return of 300 home fans on Saturday.

But the increase in Covid-19 cases across the country and the reimposed lockdown measures in certain areas means they are now in doubt. The First Minister will confirm on Thursday if the pilot events will go ahead or not.

She said: "I'm not going to preempt the announcement I'm going to make in parliament tomorrow.

"But, I've said a few times this week, I've used terms like 'putting the brakes on', perhaps not going ahead with things we'd hoped to go ahead with given the evidence we're seeing right now.

"People can draw a direction of travel from that, but in terms of detail I'm duty-bound to set that out to Parliament tomorrow.

"On the test events, we're thinking very carefully about all of this."

Bolingoli latest

Boli Bolingoli has been linked with two clubs on Wednesday as he looks to be on his way out of Parkhead.

The left-back's future at Celtic is all but over after his coronavirus breach.

And Roma has emerged as a shock contender after Aleksandar Kolarov signed for Inter Milan.

The Daily Record are reporting that Bolingoli is 'edging closer' to a Serie A switch with Roma ready to table a bid sooner rather than later.

Fanatik.com claim Turkish side Basaksehir have also joined the race to sign Bolingoli.

Burt earns Sunderland trial

Liam Burt is set to have a trial with Sunderland as he looks for his next club after leaving Celtic.

The former Rangers academy graduate made the controversial switch to the Hoops last summer but his stay was cut short this summer.

The midfielder has enjoyed a short spell with Barnsley and now has a chance to earn a deal with the Black Cats.
