Celtic news and evening headlines as Rangers hero makes shock Bitton and Ajer transfer claim

Here are your Celtic evening headlines on Wednesday, October 14.

Charlie Adam makes shock Bitton and Ajer claim

Former Rangers midfielder Charlie Adam claims Nir Bitton "caused an issue" this summer as he looked for a move away from Celtic.

The pundit was speaking on PLZ Soccer ahead of the derby on Saturday and thinks the Light Blues will target Greg Taylor and Kris Ajer as he thinks the left-hand side is a weak area they can exploit.

Adam believes Ajer, who was linked with a move to Milan, wants out of Parkhead and has struggled for form this season.

The Dundee man then went on to suggest there were other "grumblings" in the Celtic dressing room, including Bitton.

He said: "I think that Rangers will be trying to target (Greg) Taylor and (Kris) Ajer.

"I think Ajer's been all over the place really this season, because he wants out and his head's everywhere.

"There's one or two little bits of grumblings I'm hearing in at Celtic as well.

"The lads wanted to go away in this last window, to try and get out. Bitton (was) causing a little bit of an issue.

"It's strange times, but listen, Celtic are a good side. They've got a good manager that's been here before.

"They've got good experience in (Scott) Brown, (Callum) McGregor. People like that will get them through the game, but I just think if Rangers target that left side of Celtic they'll get great opportunities between Ajer and Taylor."

Sturgeon fires derby warning

Nicola Sturgeon has warned Celtic fans they should not travel to England to watch this weekend's derby in a pub.

Rangers visit Parkhead on Saturday, but supporters will be forced to watch the clash at home due to the current coronavirus restrictions.

And The First Minister insists supporters should not visit places like Blackpool to see the match.

She said: “If you were thinking about going to Blackpool and haven’t booked please do not go.

“Please do not travel to Blackpool this weekend to see the Old Firm match…

“Don’t do it. Watch the football at home – don’t act in a way that is putting people at risk.”

McGregor and Taylor handed Scotland start

Callum McGregor and Greg Taylor have been included in Scotland's line-up to face Czech Republic in their Nations League clash.

Steve Clarke has made three changes to his side following the 1-0 win over Slovakia.

And two of those are Taylor and McGregor as the left-back replaces skipper Andy Robertson, while the Hoops midfielder comes in for Kenny McLean.
