Celtic 'negotiating personal terms' with Sweden international Carl Starfelt

Celtic are reportedly in contact with Sweden international Carl Starfelt over agreeing personal terms.

The centre-back is currently on the books of Russian side Rubin Kazan, having previously played for IFK Goteborg in his homeland, and would probably require a significant fee to be brought to Scotland given he still has two years remaining on his contract with his current employers.

Starfelt has been capped three times by Sweden since 2020 but narrowly missed out on a place in Janne Andersson's squad for this summer's European Championships.

The Hoops are known to be in the market for defensive reinforcements given loan flops Shane Duffy, Diego Laxalt and Jonjoe Kenny have all been sent back to their respective parent clubs, whilst Kristoffer Ajer has openly stated his desire to leave Parkhead during the current transfer window.

New manager Ange Postecoglou has already recruited Osaze Urhoghide from Sheffield Wednesday, whilst Croatia Under-21 centre-half Mario Vuskovic remains high on his summer wish-list.
