Celtic must sell Odsonne Edouard as overrated star's just a poor man's Moussa Dembele - Hotline

Poor Motherwell and Hibs. Not only where they battered by the Old Firm, they also took a hammering on the Hotline for failing to put up much of a fight against the Glasgow big guns.

Well’s 5-1 rout by Rangers was a sore one for Stephen Robinson while Jack Ross had high hopes for the Hibees only for Celtic to hit three without a fuss.

There wasn’t much sympathy going round though.

Gordon Hendry, Ochiltree, said: “Hibs relied on the officials last week to scrape a draw against Rangers but had no such luck against Celtic this week and failed the test of title challengers miserably.

“On the other hand, Rangers showed against Motherwell where the real title challenge would come from this season."

Andrew Lamb, Fraserburgh, said: “Despite the high fives and backslapping from Hibs players a week ago, the Easter Road side brought nothing to the game against Celtic.”

Tom Gibbens emailed: “Given the way his side played against Rangers, Motherwell manager Stephen Robinson may have to reconsider his tactics of going with a low press, none at the back and a half-fit ex-Celtic striker up front.”

Gers fans were content though and Alan McGaw, Alloa, said: “Another fantastic result for Rangers well done with 20 goals in last five games. Now on to Thursday in Europe.”

Well, some were content.

Brian Quinn, Paisley, said: “Morelos has been terrible for ages and his form of old now just looks like a purple patch.

“Cedric Itten’s goals will help his confidence and its time Alfredo was benched permanently.”

Meanwhile Gary McAllister ’s claim Ryan Kent could be in the England frame got a few frothing.

Jason Andrews emailed: “McAllister cannot have been serious when he said that Kent must be getting close to a England call up.

“Look at the players he would be up against – Raheem Sterling, Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford, Mason Mount, Phil Foden and Mason Greenwood.

“Kent is no where near as good you also have to take into account the level that they are playing at.”

Terry Donnelly, Dunfermline, said: “ Ryan Kent for England. Don’t make me laugh. Clark Kent would get a game first.”

Neil Lennon had some transfer advice in the final few weeks of the window.

Gerry Milligan, Erskine, said: “Celtic should move now for Filip Benkovic. Leicester are actively chasing  England cap James Tarkowski, putting him about fifth choice. A bid of about £3m or £4m, possibly with add ons, could secure him.”

David Bryce,Troon, said: “Celtic desperately need to sell Edouard before the transfer window closes. His attitude is shocking and he’s massively overrated, a poor man's Moussa Dembele. I will back the club to the hilt If they sell him because his value is bound to be dwindling after every match at the minute.”

The pandemic panic continues with no fans allowed.

Stephen Johnstone, Ardentinny, said: “There is no point sticking your heads in the sands, football clubs need fans to motivate players and revenue to survive.

“The virus and governments have put the nail in the coffin for certain clubs and only the rich will survive and  that's not many.”

But Dr Robert Pender  emailed: “It is time Michael put his brain into gear. Thousands have died from Covid 19 and infections are on the rise. For him to speak aloud about supporters returning shows his poor judgement and lack of knowledge.”

Poor judgement and lack of knowledge has never stopped the Hotline though...
