Celtic morning transfer news as Charlton stance puts dent in Hoops' Alfie Doughty pursuit

Celtic have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of Alfie Doughty as Charlton Athletic say they have no intention of selling.

The Parkhead club have had two bids for the player booted out, and the League One club are adamant the player is not for sale.

Record Sport report that Celtic had a £500,000 offer turned down this week, and are now pondering whether to go in with a third bid.

Doughty's contract runs out next summer so Neil Lennon's men could try and wait it out to secure the player on a pre-contract.

However there's expected to be significant interest in the 20-year-old midfielder, and the Addicks are trying to get him to sign a new deal at the club.

The player is known best as a left midfielder however the Record say that Lennon sees him as a potential left-back – or left wing back in a 3-5-2 system.
