Celtic morning headlines including shock Manchester United transfer link and Edouard Champions League fears

Here are your Celtic morning headlines on Thursday, November 19.

McLeish tips Dean Henderson for loan move

Alex McLeish reckons the signing of Dean Henderson would be a "strong statement" from Celtic.

The Manchester United keeper has been linked with a loan move to Parkhead in January as the Englishman looks to find regular first team football behind David de Gea.

Neil Lennon could look to strengthen in between the sticks after Scott Bain displaced summer signing Vasilis Barkas as the Hoops no.1.

And former Ibrox boss McLeish believes the acquistion of Henderson would be a statement of intent from Celtic.

He told Football Insider: “Yeah, he’s quite special. From the footage I saw of him from the whole of last season he was at a fabulous level.

“His team actually had a great season built on the back of some fantastic work by him. That’s what they say about a goalkeeper, they can save you, a good club goalie, 10 points a season, an international goalie 15 points a season, a world-class goalie, 20-odd points a season.

“These are the numbers that these goalkeepers, along with the coaches, strive to make and that, for me, would be a very strong statement."

Edouard could miss Champions League qualifiers

Celtic could be without star man for Odsonne Edouard for their Champions League qualifiers next season.

The striker has been lined up for the Tokyo Olympics next summer as the France U23s go for gold in Japan.

Edouard broke the U21 scoring record for his country midweek as he netted a double against Switzerland, his 15th strike in just ten games.

That helped steer the baby Bleus to the Euros next year and he could play a pivotal role in the Olympics too - but it would clash with the Hoops' Champions League qualifiers.

Paddy Power troll Shane Duffy

Paddy Power delivered a brutal putdown to Shane Duffy after Ireland's shocking Nations League campaign.

Stephen Kenny's side registered three points in their group, all draws, with Duffy skippering his country.

There's been problems all over the pitch, but they have been woeful in front of goal. In fact, Celtic's Duffy even finished top goalscorer with a solitary goal after a late equaliser against Bulgaria.

Duffy has been widely criticised for his performances since arriving at Parkhead and seems he's getting some stick for his displays on the international stage too by Irish bookmakers Paddy Power.

A tweet read: "If  Shane Duffy got down on his hands and knees and tried heading it along the floor to a teammate, it would be an awful lot more accurate than what he's currently trying with his feet."
