Celtic morning headlines: Griffiths' plea to Edouard and Wanyama throwback

Here are some of the main Celtic news headlines on the morning of Thursday, 4 June.

Griffiths urges Edouard to stay for 'biggest season'

Leigh Griffiths has urged strike partner Odsonne Edouard to stay at Celtic for "the biggest season in the club's history", reports the Daily Record.

He said: “I want him to be here, 100 per cent. I see rumours all of the time that he is being linked with massive clubs, but don’t forget that we are a massive club as well, so we want him to stay.

“If he stays one more season and plays as well as he has done over the last 18 months, he’d be a big, big asset in us reaching the Ten in a Row.

"There's always going to be pressure at Celtic to win titles, but this one will mean a hell of a lot more than some before.

“It will be talked about for a long time. If we have signings coming in, it will be drummed into them quickly that this is the biggest season in the club’s history."

Celtic fans will love this one.

Hoops hero Victor Wanyama shared an Instagram video of his first ever Parkhead goal – a long-range strike against Hearts in December 2011.

He captioned the video: "When I scored my first goal for Celtic."

Wanyama endured a difficult time at Spurs before moving to MLS side Montreal Impact.

However he has been repeatedly linked with a return to the Scottish Champions in recent years.

He was a hugely popular figure with Celtic fans throughout his time in Glasgow.

Hayes off to Aberdeen?

There's also some news suggesting that Jonny Hayes could be set for an Aberdeen return, just days after departing Celtic.

There had been some speculation that he could wind up at his former club this summer.

And Dons chief Dave Cormack added to the intrigue by speaking of his admiration for the winger.

He told BBC Scotland: "Well personally I love Jonny, he’s a wonderful guy and he won’t thank me for saying this but he’s very charitable to some of the people struggling in Aberdeen and he’s said nothing about it.

"We just have to wait and see how we go through the next couple of months and certainly, I haven’t sat down with Derek at all to talk through where we might be with the squad but clearly Jonny that I’m a fan of, I love Jonny and the fans do too but we’ll just have to wait and see."
