Celtic misfit Eboue Kouassi earns Genk second chance as transfer near miss revealed

Celtic misfit Eboue Kouassi has sealed his switch Belgian champions Genk three years after the Hoops beat them in the race to land the Ivorian.

The 22-year-old midfielder has been in Belgium since the weekend and has been training with the club.

And Genk have expressed their delight after securing Kouassi on a six-month loan deal with an option to buy in the summer.

They stated: "Eboue joins us on loan until the end of the season with an option to purchase.

"He is an energetic defensive midfielder who we were interested in three years ago when he was a budding talent with the Russian side Krasnodar.

"He has passed his medical and we wish him every success."

His time at Celtic has been an unmitigated disaster and he hasn't featured for Celtic for 15 months and has been left on the outside looking in under manager Neil Lennon .

He's made just seven league starts since the Premiership champions forked out a chunky £2.8 million fee to sign him three years ago from Krasnodar and he failed to score a single goal.

Genk won the Belgian title last season, but their defence of the trophy has been poor this term and are currently slumped in eighth place in the table.
