Celtic manager target Eddie Howe and the 'on hold' Crystal Palace boss search that's nowhere near finished

Unhurried Crystal Palace will reportedly take their time before deciding whether or not to make a move for Roy Hodgson's successor this summer.

The 73-year-old could call time on his storied managerial career this summer with the Eagles understood to be keen on Celtic target Eddie Howe.

Former Chelsea boss Frank Lampard is also in the mix as is Burnley's impressive Sean Dyche who has worked miracles at Turf Moor on a limited budget.

And now the Sunday People report Palace chief Steve Parrish could still give Hodgson one more year if he fails to identify the perfect candidate. But he won't be rushed into any hasty decisions.

Howe has been locked in talks with Celtic in recent weeks and it's understood he wants to bring his trusted Bournemouth signing guru Richard Hughes with him if he accepts the Parkhead vacancy.

Incoming chief executive Dominic McKay will get down to work on Friday and that could see movement on the manager front with a major rebuild needed to mount a challenge to Rangers next season.

But Palace will not be rushed in their search if Hodgson walks away as they look to find the right man who can maintain their Premier League status for the long haul.

It's set to be a time for change at Selhurst Park with several players out of contract in the summer and uncertainty over star man Wilfried Zaha.
