Red Bull Salzburg boss Jesse Marsch is honoured to be linked with the vacant Celtic manager's job and describes the opportunity as an "interesting" one.

Neil Lennon left his role in February after a hugely disappointing season with rivals Rangers going on to claim a first Scottish Premiership title earlier this month.

Marsch is one of a number of names linked with the vacancy after a successful spell with the Austrian side.

"I know enough about it to say of course it's interesting," he told the BBC. "I've heard [about the links]. It's an honour for me.

"Three or four years ago, being linked with a club like Celtic would literally be an impossibility for me. And now that this is where I am, I always just try to look at it in terms of, 'what would the project look like?'

"Would we have similar ideas in how to build it the right way, invest in the academy, invest in young players and create this development process that I'm talking about? And not just focus on winning.

"Obviously I know that when you're the coach of Celtic, winning is the most important thing."

Marsch won Major League Soccer coach of the year with the New York Red Bulls in 2015 before joining RB Leipzig as assistant to Ralf Rangnick.

He joined Salzburg in 2019 where he won the league and cup double a year ago and is under contract until 2022.
