Celtic make Sory Doumbouya 'enquiries' as rising striker earns Basel interest

Celtic have reportedly made enquiries about Guinean forward Sory Doumboya.

The 21-year-old, who was born in France and holds Guinean citizenship, has played for his country at Under-23 level.

Currently playing for French Ligue 2 side Rodez Aveyron, he spent last season in fellow Ligue 2 side Dijon Football Côte d'Or's B team.

According to Actufoot, Swiss sides Sion and Basel "continue to take information" on the youngster, while Neil Lennon's side have "made enquiries".

Albian Ajeti added to the club's striking options this summer and has made an impressive start to life at Celtic Park, but Doumboya could bolster their squad as they attempt to win a tenth successive title.

Diego Laxalt, meanwhile, has been added to Celtic's Europa League squad. The Uruguayan loan signing has replaced Luca Connell, with Ajeti and David Turnbull also selected.

Celtic kick off their Europa League group stage fixtures on October 22 when they welcome Laxalt's parent club Milan to Glasgow.

Prior to that they face Rangers in the Premiership, and will have to do without Ryan Christie after the forward was forced to self-isolate.
