Celtic make Poppy Scotland donation as 'significant and meaningful' contribution made ahead of Remembrance Sunday

Celtic have made a £10,000 donation to PoppyScotland ahead of Remembrance Sunday.

The donation, described as "significant and meaningful" is made every year and will go toward the charity 's education project.

The project encourages school children and members of the public to learn more about the history and heritage of the poppy and remembrance, and to share their stories of reflection and hope.

Gordon Michie, Poppyscotland’s Head of Fundraising and Learning, said: “We are incredibly grateful to Celtic FC Foundation for their continued support. With their help we have been able to expand our Learning and Outreach work considerably.

"This culminated last year with the launch of Bud, our new interactive mobile learning resource. Bud visited more than 120 schools and events before lockdown and was on track to visit all 32 local authority areas in Scotland in its first year.

“Through contemporary conversations about the poppy and our heritage, we hope to better understand the significance of remembrance and its importance to society.

"We aim to challenge assumptions and create conversations, and, ultimately, engage a more diverse audience.

"The Foundation’s unwavering commitment will allow us to reach many more people in the years ahead and we offer our sincere thanks once again for this generous funding.”

Celtic also confirmed they will be taking part in remembering those who died in World War I and all other conflicts.
