The Athletic claims that Celtic have made an official approach to sign the player, and that his club are 'open to a sale' at the right price.
Nygren is out of contract with Nordsjaelland at the end of the calendar year.
Although predominantly an attack-minded midfielder, Nygren is also capable of operating as a centre-forward or on the left and right flanks.
He has made four senior appearances for his country, Sweden, scoring twice in those.
Nygren bagged a hat-trick for Nordsjaelland against Fenerbache in the UEFA Conference League last season.
Celtic have been linked with a host of players over the past few days as transfer activity ramps up in Glasgow's east end following the confirmation of Kieran Tierney's return.
The left-back penned a five-year deal on Tuesday, although Brendan Rodgers clearly has his sights set on further reinforcements in attacking areas.
