Celtic 'make bid' for Aaron Hickey as ex-Hearts star considers Scotland return

Former Hearts kid Aaron Hickey could be set to return to Scotland after Celtic reportedly made a bid to sign him.

The teenage left back left Tynecastle last summer for a £1.8m move to Bologna but could already be set to make a move back home with Celtic keen on him.

The 19-year-old joined Hearts from Celtic and 30 per cent of last summer's fee went to the Parkhead club and they could not be about to take him back to Glasgow.

Italian outlet il Resto del Carlino say the left back has been the subject of a bid already made and it would be worth €4m (£3.5m) if it was to be done this summer.

Hickey was allowed to leave last summer when Hearts were relegated to the Championship and Robbie Neilson replaced him with Stephen Kingsley at left back.

But he could line up at Tynecastle again on the opening day of the season if Ange Postecoglou manages to persuade him to return to his boyhood club.

Hickey's performances in Italy have attracted a lot of interest and he previously admitted he was aware of rumours linking him with Celtic.

Speaking last month, he said: “Well I am fully aware that there has been interest.

“I can see it all – but I have just got to keep my head down and keep my full focus on Bologna just now.”
