Celtic 'losing grip' on Liam Morrison with Bayern Munich set to plunder Hoops for teenager

Celtic starlet Liam Morrison is reportedly on the verge of a move to German giants Bayern Munich .

The central defender is one of the top prospects in Scottish football and was given a taste of first team action on the Hoops' pre-season tour of Austria and Switzerland.

Neil Lennon spoke out strongly on the central defender's future while in Austria, insisting Celtic would accept no offers for the Scotland youth cap.

But, according to the Mail , Bayern believe they have won a legal battle to sign Morrison who is entering the final 12 months of his youth contract at Parkhead.

Hoffenheim were also understood to be interested but Bayern are drawing up a long-term professional contract offer in a bid to win the youngster's signature.

Celtic will only be due a relatively small development compensation fee. And that is sure to frustrate Lennon who, only two weeks ago, insisted the player was going nowhere.

"There is interest from Germany but Liam’s our player and we want to develop him," he said.

"We're not accepting any – or are open to any – offers for him. I think we’re in negotiations over a new contract."
