Celtic loanee suffered 'blurred vision' in unusual injury as Motherwell boss provides update

Motherwell manager Graham Alexander says Celtic loanee Liam Shaw had to be subbed after 30 minutes in Tuesday's draw with St Mirren - as his sight was 'blurred.'

The Steelmen battled their way to a 1-1 Premiership draw with Saints. Alex Gogic looked to have netted a Saints winner nine minutes from time before Ross Tierney's stoppage-time leveller.

Tierney started on the bench but was brought on after 30 minutes when Shaw went down with a facial injury.

After attempting to play on, a decision was made that the midfielder on loan from Celtic couldn't continue.

He won't be available for Sunday's match with the Hoops regardless due to the Parkhead side being his parent club.

Alexander says it wasn't right for Shaw to play on in Paisley.

Motherwell's boss said: "I am not sure (how he is). He was complaining about blurred vision.

"I don't know whether he got poked in the eye or something. I am not sure. But it carried on and we didn't want to take any risks.

"He seems fine in the changing room and he was in there with the lads. We'll just need to see how he is."
