Celtic loanee Eboue Kouassi suffers another injury blow in freak Genk training collision

Luckless Eboue Kouassi has suffered another blow as he picked up a medial knee ligament injury.

The Celtic midfielder is on-loan with an option to buy at Belgian outfit Genk until the end of the season.

Kouassi suffered a cruel knee ligament injury in 2018 and was unable to work his way back into Neil Lennon's team.

That particular blow kept him out of action for nine months and his stint abroad was engineered with a view to reigniting his career, having struggled for regular minutes since Brendan Rodgers paid £3million to sign him from Krasnodar.

But he's been struck by another knee injury at training for Genk, after playing just five minutes as a sub for the Belgian champions.

Team mate Theo Bongonda landed awkwardly on him after a challenge in training and Genk feared it was a recurrence of the cruciate ligament injury he suffered at Celtic, but a hospital scan revealed it was a medial ligament injury instead.

And he's expected to be able to return after around a month out of action.
