Celtic Lisbon Lions footage emerges as fans relive emotional homecoming after European Cup triumph

Long-lost footage of the Lisbon Lions returning triumphant after their European Cup win has emerged on social media.

In 1967 Celtic became the first team from the British Isles to win the trophy, beating Inter 2-1 in the final in Portugal.

The team was made up entirely of players born within 30 miles of Celtic Park, with all but Bobby Lennox hailing from within a 10 mile radius.

They beat Helenio Herrera's 'Grande Inter' side that had won the European Cup in both 1964 and 1965, as well as conquering Serie A for the previous two seasons.

Silent footage has emerged of the triumphant team returning to Glasgow with the trophy, to be greeted by fans at Celtic Park.

Captain Billy McNeill has a souvenir sombrero from the trip, and Rangers chairman John Lawrence can be seen at the airport welcoming the team home.

The footage was shared by Twitter user @highland_paddy and Celtic fans loved seeing the emotional footage.
