Celtic linked with move for Argentina and Bayer Leverkusen forward Lucas Alario

Celtic are keen on signing Bayer Leverkusen and Argentina forward Lucas Alario, according to the player's agent.

The 27-year-old is looking for a new club after three years with the German side, although he has two years left to run of his contract.

Speaking to website EuropaCalcio, Alario's agent Pedro Aldave said: ""He still has a two-year contract with Bayer Leverkusen, and together we are deciding what to do. There is little chance of him staying [with Bayer] because he wants to try a new experience".

And while rumours have surfaced that Benfica might be keen to sign the striker, his agent said that so far, only Celtic have shown a firm interest in Alario - who was on the bench as Leverkusen beat Rangers 1-0 in the Europa League last 16 second leg match earlier this month.

"The only team that has shown interest in Alario is Celtic, but he wants to play in a competitive league", Aldave said.

Alario joined Bayer from River Plate for £21.6m back in 2017 and has seven caps for his national side, the last of which came against Brazil in a friendly back in November.
