Celtic-linked Jordan Larsson ends transfer rumours as striker set to secure Bundesliga move

Jordan Larsson is closing in on a move to newly-promoted Bundesliga side Schalke.

Reports had linked the striker, son of Celtic legend Henrik, with a fairytale Parkhead move this summer after his contract at Spartak Moscow was ripped up off the back of Russia’s war with Ukraine.

The Swedish forward netted 26 goals in just 62 appearances despite operating in a number of different positions.

However, it is believed that Ange Postecoglou’s side weren’t pursuing a deal for 25-year-old, who would’ve had arrived in Glasgow with a lot of expectation to follow in the footsteps of his father Henrik.

And now, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has said that Larsson has agreed a “deal in principle” to join Schalke after boss Rouven Schroder made a “big” effort to sign the forward, who has been linked with a whole host of top clubs this summer.

Larsson is expected to jet into Germany in the next 24 hours to undergo medical, and barring any complications, he is expected to join up with the Bundesliga outfit.

Kyogo Furuhashi, Daizen Maeda and Giorgos Giakoumakis all impressed for the Scottish Premiership champions during pre-season and it's yet to be seen if Postecoglou will add more striking reinforcements this summer with Albian Ajeti looking set for a Parkhead exit.

The Hoops have been linked with a move for Bristol City forward Antoine Semenyo, with reports indicating Celtic are "monitoring" the 22-year-old.
