Celtic line-up vs Falkirk predicted as Ryan Christie loss of form results in system tweak

Domestic football is back after the international break as Celtic host Falkirk in the Scottish Cup.

The Parkhead side look to defend their title as they aim to end the season on a high with a piece of silverware.

Celtic's success in the competition has been unprecedented, winning four on the spin.

And they have a chance to make it five, but first, they'll have to navigate a Falkirk side who are flying in League One and on the verge of promotion to the Championship.

Celtic put in an impressive performance last time out against Rangers, but it was the same old story of this season as they weren't able to secure the three points.

That's exactly why John Kennedy will put out a strong side as Celtic can't afford to take the Bairns lightly.

It's unlikely there will be many changes, but James Forrest should finally get his first start after his return from injury as he climbed off the bench in his previous two outings.

But who will make way for the winger?

The obvious choice is Ryan Christie who has been struggling for form in recent weeks.

Moi Elyounoussi played just off Odsonne Edouard against Rangers, but Forrest's inclusion would give Celtic something they haven't had for a long time - width on both flanks. This could open the door to a slight system tweak with a 4-3-3 being used.

Scott Bain should retain his place in goals with Jonjoe Kenny, Stephen Welsh, Kris Ajer and Diego Laxalt making up the back four.

Kennedy should deploy a midfield of Scott Brown, Callum McGregor and David Turnbull, with Elyounoussi, Forrest and Edouard selected as the front three.

Celtic predicted XI: Bain, Kenny, Ajer, Welsh, Laxalt, Brown, McGregor, Turnbull, Elyounoussi, Forrest, Edouard.
