Celtic line-up vs Dundee United predicted as Neil Lennon faces balancing act for Rangers clash

Celtic are looking to build on their winning run as they welcome Dundee United to Parkhead on Wednesday.

The Hoops secured a comfortable win over Hamilton on Boxing Day as they look to hit their stride for the Old Firm derby on Saturday.

Neil Lennon deployed Odsonne Edouard and Leigh Griffiths to good effect against Accies as the strikers both got on the scoresheet.

The Celtic boss will want to keep their momentum going against Mickey Mellon's men, but he will also be acutely aware the biggest game of their season is only a few days later.

It's a difficult balancing act during a busy festive period as Lennon looks to keep his players fresh without disrupting his side's rhythm as they finally start to show signs of life after a difficult start to the season.

Celtic should bring Christopher Jullien back into the fold to get some minutes under his belt before derby day.

Ryan Christie and Leigh Griffiths could be rested with Mikey Johnston and Moi Elyounoussi both suitable replacements as Celtic change to a 4-2-3-1 for the visit of United.

Conor Hazard will keep his place in goals with Jeremie Frimpong, Diego Laxalt and Kris Ajer joining Jullien in a back four.

Ismaila Soro and Callum McGregor can protect the backline with David Turnbull playing in behind Edouard, with Johnston and Elyounoussi on either flank.

Predicted Celtic XI vs Dundee United: Hazard, Frimpong, Ajer, Jullien, Laxalt, McGregor, Soro, Turnbull, Elyounoussi, Johnston, Edouard.
