Celtic legend Stevie Chalmers' granddaughter to marry on anniversary of Lisbon Lions victory

The granddaughter of Lisbon Lion Stevie Chalmers is to get married on the anniversary of the day his goal secured Celtic 's greatest ever victory.

Posting on Twitter, Natalie Chalmers paid tribute to her beloved Papa 52 years on from the club's European Cup triumph in 1967.

Natalie's touching tribute comes on the day Celtic bid for a famous win that would seal their own place in folklore.

Neil Lennon's team will go down in history if they beat Hearts at Hampden in today's Scottish Cup final to secure an unprecedented treble Treble.

Natalie tweeted: "Cup Final Day, Day Papa Scored The Winning Goal & The Day I Marry My Best Friend."

Fans flocked to the social media to wish her well on her big day.

One poster said: "This might be one of my favourite tweets of all time!"

Another wellwisher said he'd be wearing a Lisbon scarf signed by her granddad at today's game.

Another said: "What a way to honour your papa. Biggest day of your life and was the biggest day of his sporting life. Let’s bring it home. Good luck."

Winning goal hero Stevie's death last month rocked the club, coming just days after his Lisbon teammate Billy McNeill passed away. The club legends had both battled dementia in recent years.
