Celtic legend Scott Brown has revealed an awkward meeting with former Rangers rival Ryan Kent.

The pair clashed as they crossed paths in Scottish football, with Brown going up against Kent for both Celtic and Aberdeen.

And they were involved in some heated flashpoints, too.

Kent was sent off for a punch on Brown during a derby clash between Celtic and Rangers in March 2019. And he would be shown a red card and taunted by Brown in a match between Rangers and Aberdeen.

However, their past clashes on the pitch didn't stop Kent's parents from speaking to him after a chance meeting at York races.

“I actually met Ryan," said Brown on the Open Goal podcast. “I go down to the races at York every year and these two people came up to me one year and it was Ryan’s mum and dad.

“We were in this suite and they said ‘you’ll know our son’ and I’m like ‘oh f*** here we go’.

“They said ‘Ryan Kent‘ and I was like ‘no way’. I have ended up sitting and chatting away to them, nothing happened."

A few years later, Brown would run into Kent's parents again, before meeting his former rival at the races, too.

“Two years later, I went back in and the two of them are sitting there again I was like ‘we’re here today and tomorrow’, and the next thing you know, the next morning, Ryan Kent is sitting there with them," revealed Brown.

“I was like, in for a penny in for a pound and was like ‘Ryan, how are you pal?!’ I obviously had a few bevvies at this point.

“I’m like ‘what’s happening?!’ and you can see him sitting going ‘I’m not sure if I should take this seriously’.

“He actually spoke away and his mum and dad were lovely as well.”
