Celtic legend Scott Brown is a 'hero' of Arsenal star Kieran Tierney

Arsenal star Kieran Tierney has paid tribute to Celtic legend Scott Brown, saying it was an "honour" to play alongside his "hero" for five years at Parkhead.

Brown, 35, is expected to play his last game for the Hoops against Hibs later today as he heads to Aberdeen to link up with former Hibernian teammate Stephen Glass as player-coach at Aberdeen in the summer.

That will end a massively successful 14-year period in which Brown won 22 trophies.

Tierney, from Muirhouse, broke into the first-team at Celtic and played alongside Brown as they won five league titles, two league cups and two Scottish Cups - an historic Treble Treble included - and paid tribute to Brown on Instagram.

The 23-year-old wrote: "Congratulations on everything you achieved mate.

"Was an honour to play alongside you for so long. My hero.

"Captain, leader, legend."

Tierney is widely viewed as a future Arsenal captain by supporters, and there are rumours in London that he is about to be offered a new deal by the Gunners.
