Celtic legend Henrik Larsson hails Chris Sutton and Martin O'Neill

Celtic legend Henrik Larsson has hailed his former manager Martin O'Neill and strike partner Chris Sutton.

Larsson and Sutton struck up a formidable partnership during their time together at Celtic Park, with the Englishman laying on many of Larsson's 242 goals for the club.

The Swede won four league titles during his time in Glasgow, and reached the UEFA Cup Final in 2003.

Speaking about his former manager on Robert Snodgrass and Kris Boyd's The Lockdown Tactics podcast, Larsson said: "Working under Martin O'Neill, I think it was the first time since I arrived at Celtic that the boat was settling a little bit.

"There was a way of thinking, the way Martin O'Neill wanted to build the Celtic team was better. Simply put, it was better. The players he took in, Chris Sutton, Alan Thompson, Neil Lennon just to mention a few, were just quality players.

"And with quality players, you have the chance to win league titles. You have the chance to win games in Europe. I think he steadied the ship immensely, Martin O'Neill."

Asked about his partnership upfront for Celtic with Sutton, Larsson said: "He was the best ever I had. A big guy with a lot of vision how to play the game.

"Totally unselfish. Worked very, very hard. He never stopped running. He could score goals.

"So for me it was easy to play with him, because when he went up for a header and I was around I had to judge where to go, if I had to be in front of him or go in behind.

"That's always easier when you know what your partner upfront is going to do, so for me he's the best ever I played with in a four-four-two system without a doubt."
