Celtic legend Chris Sutton in Rangers dig following Ibrox side's Veolia Trophy win

Chris Sutton has taken a dig at Rangers following the Ibrox side's pre-season friendly tournament victory.

Steven Gerrard's men lifted the Veolia Trophy after beating Lyon 2-0 on Thursday and Nice by the same score on Saturday night.

Celtic failed to win either of their two games, drawing 1-1 with Nice and losing 2-1 to Lyon.

Those results saw Rangers handed the trophy in a presentation following their game against Nice, but former Celtic star Sutton was unimpressed.

He shared an image of Rangers captain James Tavernier being presented with the trophy and added: "Can put that next to the Petroltank Cup...", in reference to the Ibrox side's 2016 Petrofac Training Cup win over Peterhead.

Gerrard, meanwhile, has issued a warning to Rangers youth players who may not be showing the right attitude.

Speaking to Rangers TV, Gerrard said: "I want to bring academy players in but first and foremost they've got to commit to the football club. If you don't commit to the football club you won't be seen anywhere near me.

"They've got to be good enough. So they've got to train every day like it means the world to them to play for Rangers.

"I've been hearing a few things down at the academy, that there's been a bit of ego about, so they won't be around me.

"I'll only play the players that show me on a daily basis they are good enough to be around us."
