Celtic legend Billy McNeill's family in desperate search after grandson goes missing in Amsterdam

A frantic appeal has been launched for the grandson of Celtic legend Billy McNeill who vanished on holiday in the Netherlands.

Matthew McCombe was last seen leaving a Novotel hotel on Europaboulevard in Amsterdam, at around 6.15am on Saturday, March 14.

The 21-year-old was wearing black Nike joggers, pale blue Stone Island sweatshirt.

He is described has being six feet, one inch tall ,of slim build, with short dirty blonde hair.

His worried cousin Alex asked for help to try and find Matthew in an emotional appeal which has been more than a thousand times by family and friends.

Alex Campbell wrote:  "My little cousin Matthew McCombe (21) is missing in Amsterdam.

"Last seen leaving Novotel 1083 Amsterdam Netherlands at 6.15 am 14th March 2020 heading across the road.

"He was wearing black nike joggers, pale blue stone island sweatshirt.

"He is 6ft 1 , slim build, short dirty blonde hair.

"Please can everyone share this and if anyone has seen him please contact the local police or contact anyone of us."

Billy McNeill passed away aged 79 on in April 2019 following a long battle with dementia.

The legendary Celtic defender, known as Cesar, was one of the Parkhead club's greatest ever servants, having captained the side before later taking over as manager.
