PSV look set for a Champions League meeting with Celtic or Midtjylland after dismantling Galatasaray 5-1 on home turf.
The Turkish side, meanwhile, face a Europa League trip to face St Johnstone if they fail to come up with a miracle in Istanbul.
The meeting of two former giants of the European stage attracted interest from all over the continent.
But after the draw was made for the next round earlier this week, Scottish football really stood up and took notice.
Celtic learned that they will play the winner of the tie should they advance beyond Midtjylland and it looks as if it will be PSV in their path after a resounding win in Eindhoven.
It was Israeili striker Eran Zahavi who ran the show with two early goals in the Netherlands. Emre Klinc's strike for the visitors threatened to keep it alive, but the optimism didn't last long.
Zahavi soon played in Mario Gotze for the third and later finished off his hattrick, before a fifth from Gotze rubbed salt in Galatasaray wounds.
Celtic go into next week's second leg with the tie evenly poised after a 1-1 draw in Glasgow and now know it's the Dutch giants, in imperious form, lying in wait.
Callum Davidson 's Saints, meanwhile, make their return to European competition this season and it looks like the likes of Ryan Babel and Arda Turan will be heading to McDiarmid Park in August.
The two sides face off in Istanbul in the second leg on Wednesday July 28.
