Moldovan shock troops Sheriff Tiraspol have overtaken Celtic by pulling off the biggest Champions League upset in more than a decade.
The debutants in European football’s premier competition produced a stunning win against 13-time champions Real Madrid in their own backyard.
Sheriff were available at as high as 30/1 with some bookmakers before their 2-1 victory in the famous Santiago Bernabeu stadium which was stunned into silence.
The winning goal was scored by Sebastien Thill who is no stranger to a shock himself after he also netted for Progres Niederkorn in their victory over Rangers four years ago.
And the victory is now the biggest shock since the launch of the Euro Club Index which ranks all football clubs in Europe’s top divisions.
Real Madrid are ranked third - with only Bayern Munich and Manchester City rated higher - while Sheriff were 175th but have now rocketed 20 places.
Until Tuesday night, it was Celtic’s famous win over Real Madrid’s bitter rivals Barcelona in 2012 that topped the list of upsets.
Neil Lennon’s men had a 7.1 per cent chance of victory at Parkhead but secured a 2-1 win despite having just 11 per cent possession on one of the greatest nights in the club’s illustrious history.
