Craig Gordon to Hearts transfer snubbed by Celtic as Hoops deliver firm stance

Celtic have knocked back an approach from Hearts to re-sign Craig Gordon.

The former Scotland keeper is out of contract in the summer and is a pre-contract target for the Jambos.

Hearts have asked if they could get the 37-year-old before the close of the window but Hoops chiefs have knocked them back.

Celtic have said he is not available in this window and they don’t want to let him go.

Neil Lennon wants to keep him for their second half assault to try and retain the treble and for their push in the Europa League.

It remains to be seen if that stance changes as Gordon is desperate to get back playing.

He is also currently behind on-loan Southampton keeper Fraser Forster and Scott Bain is also there as well.

The Hoops are limited as they have also sent Conor Hazard to Dundee and Ross Doohan is at Ayr United.

Hearts boss Daniel Stendel is keen to strengthen his own squad.

He knows Gordon would be a favourite with the fans as he came through the Tynecastle ranks before he made a £9 million move to Sunderland.

Hearts also have several options in that area as they have Joel Pereira on loan from Manchester United and they also have Zdenek Zlamal and Colin Doyle, although the latter has been told he can leave and is surplus to requirements.
