Celtic keeper snub sees Rangers goalie in 'advanced talks' with St Mirren

Jak Alnwick is reportedly a target for St Mirren.

The keeper left Rangers earlier this summer when his contract expired, but could remain in the Premiership as the Buddies search for a number one.

The 27-year-old made 24 appearances for Blackpool during a loan spell last season, having made just 11 appearances in his time at Ibrox with Allan McGregor and Wes Foderingham ahead of him in the queue.

Football Insider today reports that St Mirren are in "advanced talks" with Alnwick, after Celtic keeper Craig Gordon turned them down.

The report claims the club have "reached an agreement in principle" with the Englishman.

SunSport, meanwhile, has reported that Gordon is considering a two-year deal offered by Hearts after rejecting a move to Paisley.

The report says that Celtic boss Neil Lennon is keen to hold on to Gordon as backup for Forster, but Gordon rejected Celtic's first offer and is unimpressed with how negotiations with the club have unfolded.

If Gordon did return to Edinburgh, he would link up with former team-mate Robbie Neilson, who replaced Daniel Stendel as Hearts boss on Sunday.
