Celtic keeper Joe Hart earns high Man City praise as Ederson bows down to 'legendary' stopper

Man City keeper Ederson says Joe Hart is a bona fide legend - and does things even he can't between the sticks.

Brazilian Ederson is widely viewed as one of the top keepers on the planet after becoming Hart's permanent successor at City with his laser-guided punting technique and aggressive sweeping style marking him out as a unique talent.

Former England keeper Hart's career took a tumble before he signed for Celtic in the summer but there was once a time when he was seen as one of the best around.

Between 2007 and 2016, he was a fixture for City and England and his shot-stopping won him two league titles and two FA Cups.

He has many highlights from his time at the Etihad but one save in particular stands out.

A 21-year-old Hart was caught in the opposition box as City chased a late equaliser against rivals Manchester United back in 2008. But he sprinted the length of the pitch, making up 40 yards on Wayne Rooney, before denying the striker's long-range effort on the goal-line.

And Ederson, who was reviewing it as one of his favourite ever saves on Man City's website, said it was just one of the saves that made him a "legend."

"I see this one many many times," Ederson said.

"I don't think I could have saved it, I'm not good at running, but it was a great recovery.

"Joe is an exceptional goalkeeper. The years he was here, that's why he is a City legend and a guy I really admire as a goalkeeper."

"After he saved the ball he must have thought 'I sprinted once and I'm dead! Can you imagine running for 90 minutes?!'"

Hart has played every minute since signing for Ange Postecoglou's team, keeping four clean sheets in his eight appearances so far.
