Celtic keeper Craig Gordon 'offered two-year deal' by Hearts

Craig Gordon could be set for a return to Hearts.

The 37-year-old Celtic keeper struggled for games last season, with Fraser Forster holding down the number one spot after returning to Celtic Park on loan from Southampton.

Gordon, who has 54 Scotland caps, could now be in line for a second spell at Tynecastle.

SunSport reports that Gordon is considering a two-year deal offered by Hearts after rejecting a move to St Mirren.

The report says that Celtic boss Neil Lennon is keen to hold on to Gordon as backup for Forster, but Gordon rejected Celtic's first offer and is unimpressed with how negotiations with the club have unfolded.

They say that the club would discuss a potential testimonial match and support Gordon as he starts his coaching badges, with a 12-month extension also a possibility at the end of the two-year deal.

If Gordon did return to Edinburgh, he would link up with former team-mate Robbie Neilson, who replaced Daniel Stendel as Hearts boss on Sunday.

Gordon made 176 appearances in his first spell at Tynecastle, before joining Sunderland in a £9m deal in August 2007 that was, at that time, the highest fee a British club had paid for a keeper.
