Celtic 'join' Kyle Joseph transfer chase as Scottish champions eye another cross-border signing in Wigan starlet

Celtic have reportedly joined the chase for Wigan's Kyle Joseph.

The 19-year-old striker is enjoying a breakout season at the troubled League One club, netting a hat-trick against Burton Albion two weeks ago.

The Latics are still in administration after a points deduction saw them tumble to the third tier from the Championship last term and a proposed takeover bid collapsed last week.

That's left the futures of some of Wigan's best players uncertain - including Joseph, who would be available for Scottish clubs on a pre-contract deal this summer.

And now it appears Celtic have arrived on the scene, with the Daily Mirror reporting their interest.

Rangers were linked with a move for the teenager over the weekend. But Record Sport understands Steven Gerrard's side are not interested.

It has been reported Tottenham Hotspur and Sheffield United are keen, though, as Joseph catches the eye of some English Premier League big-hitters.

Joseph is a Scotland Under-19s international and Wigan - who sit second bottom and are in danger of a second relegation in a row - have offered him a new deal meaning they'll be entitled to some cross-border compensation if a move materialises.
