It looks like Boston Celtics All-NBA swingman Jayson Tatum has a thing for classic hip hop.
And while to many Celtics fans, early 2000s hip hop might feel a little too recent to call “classic,” at nearly two decades of age and one of the most popular releases of all time in any era, Jay-Z’s “The Black Album” is indeed a classic no matter how insecure we are about the encroaching ratio of gray hares to regular ones.
That Tatum is a fan in this day and age is a testament to the album’s longevity, which still sound crisp despite coming out when the Celtic star was in first grade.

With hits like “Change Clothes“, “99 Problems” and “Dirt off Your Shoulder,” it’s understandable why the Duke product would call it the “greatest hip hop album ever,” but here at the Celtics Wire, we take issue with that claim.
It is clearly The Gza’s “Liquid Swords,” which we will not be entertaining any debate over.
Or whoever you like, that’s cool too.
