Celtic interim boss John Kennedy laughs off Conor McGregor claim

Celtic interim manager John Kennedy has laughed off Conor McGregor 's claim he's held talks to acquire a stake in the club.

Kennedy was asked to spill the beans on the dressing room reaction to the UFC superstar's Parkhead investment bombshell.

McGregor this week alleged he'd been in contact with Celtic supremo Dermot Desmond over becoming a shareholder at the club, the Daily Record reports.

The Dubliner insisted he could do "big things" for a club but a smiling Kennedy brushed it off after being asked if the claim had filtered down to the players.

"I think last week he was at Man United, as well," he said ahead of Celtic's Premiership clash with St Johnstone on Wednesday.

"It looks like he's trying to get his teeth into football somehow.

"But I don't think there's anything in that at all."

Responding to a fan on Twitter, McGregor admitted he'd also be keen to invest in Manchester United.

He wrote: "A conversation came up regarding Celtic first to be honest. To acquire shares from Dermot Desmond.

"I am certainly interested in acquiring a sports team at some stage! Both Celtic and Man United are teams I like for sure.

"But I am open. I feel I could do big things for a club."
