Celtic injury concern as Johnston forced off with suspected concussion

Celtic have been dealt an injury blow with Alistair Johnston forced off in the first half against Hibs.

The full-back had to leave the field after 26 minutes with a suspected concussion.

Johnston had required treatment after being hit in the face by the ball.

He had tried to continue to play on but was forced off after going down again clearly in discomfort.

Anthony Ralston was the man to replace Johnston with Brendan Rodgers awaiting confirmation of Johnston's injury.

It's a blow for Celtic in the capital having already lost Reo Hatate in midweek to a suspected hamstring issue.

The midfielder was forced off in the Champions League match against Atletico Madrid with just minutes on the clock.

On Hatate, Rodgers said: "There is not a definitive timeline but he will definitely be out for a few weeks.

“We are waiting on it settling down and the result, then we’ll see where he’s at — but it looked quite a bad one.

“In the first 35 seconds he overstretched and felt it. It is such a shame for him. He had a calf issue against Aberdeen and last year he had problems with the other hamstring.

“We just need to have a wee look and go deeper into what his preparation is away from here. You can be so committed and want to do so well.

“He wanted to do lots of extra work and be the best he can be but we have to look because sometimes you can over-train and do extra bits that can affect you."
