Celtic 'increasingly confident' of Charlie Wyke deal as transfer plans are rolled out

Celtic are growing ‘increasingly confident’ that they will complete the signing of Charlie Wyke in the coming days, according to a report.

The striker left Sunderland at the end of his contract having turned down the offer of a new deal.

And now it’s believed he could be about to complete a move to Celtic Park and sign for Ange Postecoglou’s men.

The Northern Echo report that Celtic are determined to get the deal done and begin making moves in the transfer market.

The signing of Liam Shaw is the only deal done so far and that was initially done in January on a pre-contract.

But they’ve reportedly held talks with Wyke and will put a formal offer on the table in the coming days.

Sunderland are believed to have offered a deal similar to what Celtic are considering but have been unable to persuade Wyke to stay in League One for another year.

Postecoglou’s men are on the lookout for a new striker with Odsonne Edouard expected to leave the club.

Leigh Griffiths is also in limbo while Albian Ajeti has struggled to make an impact.
