Celtic in talks over double Tottenham transfer deal as Nuno Espirito Santo shapes ideal squad

Celtic are reportedly in talks with Tottenham over a double deal that would see both Joe Hart and Cameron Carter-Vickers move north of the border.

According to the Daily Record, the Hoops are in discussions with Fabio Paratici over both players, with it seeming unlikely that the duo have a future under new Spurs boss Nuno Espirito Santo.

It has already been reported that the Scottish giants are eyeing a swoop for the former England No.1, with Hart having fallen even further down the pecking order in north London following the arrival of Pierluigi Gollini.

football.london understands that he has been told that he is now surplus to requirements in north London.

Now, Celtic are also plotting a second Spurs swoop with Carter-Vickers firmly in their sights.

As per the reports, talks are underway and the defender is keen to leave the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium following 12 years with the club.

It is suggested that Spurs have told Celtic that he is available on a permanent deal, with the defender himself not convinced on another loan deal having also been farmed out to Sheffield United, Ipswich Town, Luton Town, Swansea City, Stoke City and Bournemouth throughout his career.

In fact, the 23-year-old American international has made just four outings for Spurs.

It is reported that the club are asking for £5million for his services this summer, with Norwich City, Newcastle United and Bournemouth all thought to be rivals, whilst Belgian duo Anderlecht and Club Brugge have also been linked with a move in the past.

The centre-back has just one year remaining on his current Spurs deal, with 34-year-old Hart also in the final year of his deal too.

Should both depart, it would continue Nuno Espirito Santo’s sizing down of his current squad.

Toby Alderweireld, Juan Foyth and Erik Lamela have all departed on permanent deals, whilst Danny Rose and Paulo Gazzaniga were released at the back-end of the 2020/21 season.
