Celtic in first home game fixture shuffle as Europa League return spells familiar Premiership pattern

Celtic fans will have to wait another 24 hours when a large number of them return to Parkhead for Premiership action.

24,500 supporters will be allowed into the ground next weekend when the club host Dundee in their first league home game of the season.

That's the biggest attendance in Scotland since the pandemic shut down our game last year but the match has now been moved from Saturday to Sunday as fans prepare for a slew of kick-offs on that day.

Such are the trappings of Europa League football on a Thursday night that any game the following weekend will be on a Sunday and with a trip to Jablonec now lined up next week it's meant a quick fixture shuffle.

Originally down for a 3pm start on the Saturday, the game will now kick off at the same time on Sunday, August 8.

On Wednesday night Ange Postecoglou's side crashed out of the Champions League and into the second-tier competition after a 2-1 extra-time defeat to Midtjylland.

Callum McGregor's stunning volleyed opener had them ahead in the tie before Awer Mabil levelled and Raphael Onyedika struck the killer blow near the start of the added 30 minutes.
