Celtic hit with new UEFA fine as governing body fire warning to Neil Lennon

Celtic have been hit with a €15,000 (£13,327) fine after being found responsible for the late kick-off in their round of 32 clash with FC Copenhagen in Denmark.

The Hoops have been punished after UEFA decided they were the guilty party while Celtic boss Neil Lennon has been censured by the governing body over the incident.

Celtic were also warned by UEFA over their kit for the second leg clash a week later.

UEFA’s charge was for ‘oversized manufacturer identification’, which goes against UEFA’s equipment regulations.

They decided to warn the Scottish champions over their future conduct meaning they could be punished in future if they repeat the offence.

Celtic have regularly fallen foul of UEFA's disciplinary committee in recent years, largely due to banners unveiled by supporters and the use of flares.

Earlier this season, they were hit with a fine for a display during their clash with Lazio at Celtic Park.

They criticised former Italian dictator Benito Mussolini and even drew the ire of his granddaughter with that display.

Celtic were later fined €15,000 (£12,901) by UEFA for the fans' banner with the Serie A club also sanctioned for their supporters' offensive chanting.
